Tracy & Will Lovan

Will Lovan (trumpet) is a 2014 graduate of SCAPA Lafayette. He is a current Music Education and Music Performance major at the University of Kentucky. Will was a member of Central Kentucky Youth Orchestras for six years serving as the principal trumpet of the symphony his last two years.

“CKYO was an awesome experience. I was able to play some challenging pieces under the direction of Dr. Daniel Chetel. The challenges put before me in CKYO helped me greatly in becoming the best possible musician which I am still striving to be and will continue in that quest throughout my musical career. I made some great friends through CKYO and I’ll always be grateful for the experience.”

Tracy Lovan (trombone) is a 1979 graduate of Henry Clay High School. She received her bachelors and masters from University of Kentucky and is currently a retired special education teacher. Tracy served two terms as president of CKYO in 2012 and 2014. She was thrilled when her son Will successfully auditioned for a spot in CKYO since it is an organization that is very dear to her.

“I made so many friends during my four years in the youth orchestras. All these years later I still am in close contact with many of them. CKYO gave me the opportunity to play some fantastic pieces in the company of some wonderful and very talented musicians from different schools in the area including some who went on to become professional musicians. It was one of the best experiences I had in life.”
