Percussion Instructor
Samantha Vivian is a PhD student in musicology/ethnomusicology at the University of Kentucky where she acts as a teaching assistant for the department. She holds degrees in Percussion Performance as well as Music Education from Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tennessee where she also received her K-12 teaching certification. While in Tennessee, she played as principal percussionist of Wind Ensemble and timpanist of Symphony Orchestra, winning the Concerto Competition in 2021 with timpani. She has performed across the United States in ensembles
such as Percussion Ensemble, Steel Band, Brass Ensemble, Jazz Band, Balinese Gamelan, and Korean P’ungmul drumming. Samantha has taught music courses and ensembles to all ages through college, directing percussion ensembles, teaching classroom music, and providing a variety of private lessons.
