Chase Miller

Clarinetist, Chase Miller is an active performer and educator in the central Kentucky area. Currently, he holds Adjunct Clarinet Instructor positions at Transylvania University (Lexington, KY), Centre College (Danville, KY), and Asbury University (Wilmore, KY). In addition to work at the collegiate level he is finishing his fifth year as Program Director of Central Kentucky Youth Orchestras after school El Sistema inspired program, CKYO - MusicWorks.

 

He was selected to represent Kentucky in South Arts’ inaugural 2020 Emerging Leaders of Color Professional Development Program. June, 2020 The Kentucky Governor's School for the Arts awarded Chase with the Annual Marlene M. Helm Alumni Achievement Award. Which was created to honor an outstanding alumnus or alumna for their contribution to the arts in their home community, their service to the Governor’s School for the Arts, and the dedication to enriching the state’s artistic future.

Chase has attended festivals and education clinics both in the United States and internationally. He has participated in various chamber music festivals such as Fresh, Inc. in Wisconsin and BayView Music Festival in Petoskey, Michigan. He attended Music Academy International, an Opera and Chamber music festival in Mezzano, Italy. He’s been involved in a concert tour in Ireland with the Esker Festival Orchestra.

 

An active educator, Chase maintains a private clarinet studio of 18 students in the central KY area, from ages 8 to 65 years old. He has traveled to LA to work with The LA Youth Orchestra on behalf of Central Kentucky Youth Orchestras. He is a part of the Excelcia Music Publishing recording project in Tampa, FL, which provides cutting-edge listening resources for music educators.

 

Chase earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky (UK) and his Masters in Clarinet Performance at University of Arizona (UA). His teachers include Scott Wright, Jerry Kirkbride, and Jackie Glazier.
