Run-Out Concerts and CKYO Night at LPO

Run-Out Concerts

CKYO performs run-out concerts each year for school systems that do not have orchestra programs. Our wish is to expose children to live orchestral music in hopes of increasing their interest in music and participation in school music programs. Our orchestras will perform a total of six run-out concerts this year; attendance for these concerts is usually about 600-900 children.

These concerts are optional for CKYO members because they happen during the school day and require missing school. We hope you will make every effort for your child to be there since we need all of our musicians in order to do a concert well, but we understand the need to be at school for important tests, etc. Educational Enhancement Forms are available on our website to download, sign, and take to your school attendance office.

Symphony and Concert Orchestras each take buses to neighboring counties and perform two concerts in one day. Preparatory Orchestra meets here in Lexington and performs one concert. The Jazz Arts Orchestra performs in area counties and in Fayette County.

CKYO Night at the Lexington Philharmonic

Each year CKYO students and their family and friends are eligible to attend two Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra concerts at a substantial discount: $40 seats for only $10! The two dates are October 16 and February  12. They are both concerts that CKYO believes will be especially educational and appealing to our students and their families, and we encourage you to attend if at all possible. These are usually festive evenings, with hundreds of CKYO students and family members in attendance.

To get tickets, simply call the Philharmonic Box Office, (859) 233-4226, tell them the name of your CKYO student, the number of tickets, and have a major credit card ready. A $3 handling charge will be added to each order (no matter how many tickets). You must buy the tickets before noon on the Wednesday before the concert; tickets on the day of the concert will be regular price!
