60th Anniversary Celebration

Look who's coming to town!

Joseph Ceo was the Conductor of the CKYO from 1966 to 1973.  His tenure saw the initiation of the Concert Orchestra (under the direction of Lawrence Harris), the Teen Arts Festival, and several major trips for CKYO.

After receiving the DMA from the Catholic University of America (1976), he became Director of Orchestras at the University of Rhode Island and violist in the Rhode Island String Quartet.  This Ensemble performed in Europe (London and Oslo) and New York's Carnegie Recital Hall.  After retirement from URI in 1993, Dr. Ceo formed two orchestras - Musica Dolce in Westerly, RI, and the Newport County Orchestra in Newport, RI.  He has appeared as violist in two films produced in Newport - "Love Lies" and "Amistad".

Ceo has published an orchestra reduction of the Nutcracker Ballet, and flies a Cessna 206 on behalf of the publisher, Luck's Music Library of Detroit.  He learned to fly at Lexington's Bluegrass Field and has landed a single engine aircraft in all 50 states and 7 Canadian provinces.
